WHY CHOOSE PORCELAIN FOR YOUR GARDEN?
Porcelain has quickly become the premier choice for homeowners seeking a modern alternative to traditional sandstone or concrete slabs. Engineered for high performance in British weather, outdoor porcelain tiles offer several distinct benefits:
Ultra Low-Maintenance: Unlike natural stone, porcelain requires no regular sealing. A simple sweep and occasional jet wash keeps your patio looking brand new year-round.
Stain & Mould Resistant: The non-porous surface prevents algae, moss, lichen, and stubborn stains (like wine or oil) from penetrating the material.
Frost-Proof & Weather-Resistant: Built to withstand freezing winters without cracking, flaking, or fading under UV sunlight.
Slip-Resistant Surface: All our outdoor porcelain slabs carry an R11 slip rating, ensuring a safe, textured surface for family and guests, even when wet.
Seamless Aesthetics: Available in a vast array of finishes—from sleek contemporary greys to realistic wood-grain and natural stone effects.
OUR PORCELAIN INSTALLATION PROCESS.
Site Excavation: We dig down to a suitable depth and lay a heavily compacted Type 1 MOT sub-base for maximum stability.
Full Mortar Bed: Slabs are laid on a full wet mortar bed to ensure zero voids underneath, preventing cracking under load.
SBR Slurry Primer: We apply a specialised bonding slurry to the back of every tile to ensure a permanent bond with the mortar.
Precision Cutting: Using diamond blade wet saws, we achieve clean, accurate edge cuts around drainage, steps, and walls.
External Grouting: Finished with high-performance, weather-resistant outdoor porcelain grout to prevent weed growth.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.
Are porcelain patios suitable for the British climate?
Yes, outdoor porcelain slabs are frost-proof, weather-resistant, and non-porous. This means water cannot penetrate the tile, preventing cracking during freezing winters and stopping algae or moss growth during wet seasons.
How do you keep porcelain paving clean?
Porcelain is extremely low-maintenance. Because it resists stains, moss, and dirt, you only need to sweep away loose leaves and occasionally wash the surface with warm soapy water or a light pressure washer. Unlike natural stone, it never requires sealing.
Are porcelain patio tiles slippery when wet?
Not at all. We strictly use R11 slip-rated porcelain tiles designed specifically for outdoor use. These have a textured surface that provides excellent grip underfoot, making them safe for children, pets, and family use even during wet weather.
Why is porcelain paving laid differently from sandstone or concrete?
Porcelain is a non-porous material, which means standard mortar will not stick to it on its own. To ensure a solid, lifelong bond, we apply a specialised SBR slurry primer to the back of every slab before laying it on a full wet mortar bed. Without this step, tiles can become loose over time.
How long does a porcelain patio installation take?
A standard porcelain patio or pathway installation in Basingstoke typically takes between 3 to 7 working days, depending on the size of the area, ground preparation requirements, and complexity of cuts or steps.
